In the week of September 14-20 2020, the Belgrade Pride Week was held, this year “in four walls”. The traditional walk through the streets of Belgrade was canceled due to the corona virus pandemic, and most of the events during the Pride Week were held online, on the internet platforms of the Belgrade Pride organization. The organizers state that this decision was made in order to protect the health of the participants, but also not to give a reason for homophobic structures to accuse Pride of spreading the virus and contributing to the pandemic.
During Pride week, special attention was paid to the importance of Europride, which will be held in Belgrade in 2022, and the rich debate program included a panel discussion “Laws for Equality”, which placed special focus on two, in the opinion of the organizers, most important laws not yet adopted – the Law on Registered Partnerships and the Law on Gender Identity. On the fourth day of the Pride Week a discussion “Alliance – why it is important” was held, with the representatives of iniciatives that supports Pride and LGBT+ community. During the same evening, office of the movement “Ne davimo Beograd”, who’s activist Dobrica Veselinović was a participant in the discussion, were attacked.
The cultural program was marked by “Fine Dead Girls”, as well as a series of photographs by Goran Popovski “Samo hrabro” whose producer is Marko Mihailović. The promotion of the book “Letter for Estaban and other stories” was held in the bar “XL”. This collection of stories is the result of a competition announced by the online magazine “Bookvar” and the magazine “Optimist” and contains 50 stories that are thematically dedicated to the experiences of gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transsexuals, transgender, intersex and queer people, and the common motif of all stories is Pedro Almodovar.
NEDELJA PONOSA BEZ PARADE
